Madrid-Waddington Wins John Dinneen Tournament

The host Madrid-Waddington Yellowjackets win over the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks by the score of 45-26 in the championship game of the John Dinneen tournament. Tupper Lake had trouble putting points on the board as they were shutout in the first quarter. Tupper Lake was without last years leading scorer Zach Durfee due to an injury suffered in the last minutes of the first game of the tournament. The Madrid-Waddington defense was tough all night. M-W held the Lumbersjacks scoreless the first 12 and half minutes of the game. The halftime score was 19-7. Tupper Lake made a run late in the 3rd quarter scoring 7 straight points to pull to within 5, 21-16. The Jackets started the 4th quarter with an 8-2 run and outscored Tupper Lake 21-10 in the final quarter to claim the title. Ryan Dunn led the Yellowjackets with 14 points. David Uppstrom added 9 points and tournament MVP Jon Woodard had 8 points for M-W. Patrick Poirier led the Lumberjacks with 12 points. Steve Doolen had 7 points for Tupper Lake.
