CHATEAUGAY WINS STATE TITLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Chateaugay Bulldogs took a hard loss last year against a tough C.G.Finney team in the Championship game, but Chateaugay was ready this year for any challenge the state had to offer. Chateaugay took on Northstar Christian in the State Title game Saturday and looked to win the first ever boys state title for Section X. Chateaugay came out in the first a little rough, as well was Northstar. But Chateaugay fell into a rhythm and got great looks in transition. Northstar had trouble getting back on defense and was very jittery due to nerves. Chateaugay lead 14-5 after one. In the second, with 7:00 to play in the first half Jordon Rankin got the quick lay in and put the Bulldogs up 16-5, the first double-digit lead of the game. Northstar had trouble containing their possessions and Chateaugay stole the ball easily from weak and nervous play. Chateaugay worked the ball around and got great looks on the offensive end. They caught Northstar just standing around and led at half-time 29-16. In the third quarter, Chateaugay used great offensive sets again to produce their baskets. The Bulldogs showed their want for the title as they took key and wide open shots. The Bulldogs lead 41-25 after three. In the fourth the Bulldogs went up 21 with 5:22 left to play 48-27. Northstar cut the Bulldog lead to 12 with a 1:19 to play but could finish the run and Chateaugay fans went crazy when the buzzer sounded. The Chateaugay Bulldogs won the State Championship 52-41. An amazing game for Section X and one that will be remembered forever!!! Class D State tournament MVP, Brad Dumont led the Bulldogs with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Zach Peck was also named to the Class D all-tournament team with his great effort over the 2 day period. Congratulations to all players, coaches, and fans.
