Massena Wins Division I State Title!!

The Massena Red Raiders defeated West Genesee by the score of 3-2 in triple overtime to win the NYS Division I State championship in Utica. Joe Laffin opening the scoring with a goal at the 4:44 mark of the first period. Massena held on to the 1 goal led 3 minutes into the 3rd. Massena took the lead again on a Nathan Pichette goal assisted by Antonio O'Geen and Joe Laffin. It looked as though Massena was going to win the game in regulation, but West Genesee scored the game-tying goal with just over a minute to play to send it into overtime. Finally, with just under 30 seconds remaing in the 3rd overtime period Mike Mailhot fired the game winning goal past the West Genesee goalie for the win. Joe Laffin and Nathan Pichette finsihed with game with 1 goal and 1 assist each for Massena. Antonio O'Geen had 2 assists for Massena. Kyle Anderson stopped 22 shots in goal for Massena. This is the 5th title for the Red Raiders dating back to when the tournament began in 1980 and their first since 1995. Congratulations!!!

Great team effort by the Raiders. A game the boys will remember for a very long time!! NYS DIV 1 CHAMPS!!! Thank you for all the support in the north country.
