Chateaugay Pulls Away From a Hungry Heuvelton Squad

Bulldogs versus Bulldogs! Number one versus Number two! The Chateaugay Bulldogs and Heuvelton Bulldogs faced each other for the second time in three years in a Class "D" Title game that will be remembered for years. Heuvelton came out quick, and so did Chateaugay. Both play spectacular defense, each forcing numerous turnovers, worked themselves in to a 10-10 tie before Chateaugay pulled out a 15-10 first quarter lead. In the second Heuvelton quickly cut the deficit to one 15-14 with 6:46 left in the half. Then one minute later Heuvelton took its first lead 16-15. Turnovers kept Heuvelton out of the lead at half 26-23. Chateaugay went on a quick 4-0 run to start the second half and went up 11 with 3:48 left in the third. Heuvelton then went on a 6-0 to end the third and trail Chateaugay 36-31. Early in the fourth Heuvelton cut the Chateaugay lead to three 36-33. From then on though Chateaugay quickly pulled away with clutch foul shooting. The number one team in the state cruised to a 53-42 victory. Francis Sharpe had 10 points and Justin Weaver had 13 for Heuvelton. Brad Dumont had 15 for Chateaugay and Drew Boyea led all scorers with 22.
